Main Article Content
Abstract
Industry 4.0 as the fourth industrial revolution has transformed the manufacturing industry by integrating new disruptive technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data analytics and cyber-physical systems. Smart manufacturing improves the level of productivity, operational efficiency, and customization, cost reduction, and reduces errors. The given paper discusses the introduction of Industry 4.0 technologies in the current manufacturing systems and discusses the opportunities of the presented technology as well as the challenges the industries will experience during their introduction. The major difficulties here involve the expensive upfront cost, cybersecurity threats, lack of skills among the workforce and interoperability. The paper identifies strategic management and technological solutions to these problems and accentuates on the possibility of Industry 4.0 to change the way manufacturing activities are conducted all over the world.
