Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of the agricultural sector to promoting non-hydrocarbon exports in Algeria during the period (2016–2024). It examines the sector’s potential, performance in GDP and employment, and the evolution of agricultural exports and the agricultural trade balance. The findings reveal that despite significant natural and human resources, the sector’s contribution to exports remains limited due to structural and organizational constraints. The study also highlights the persistent deficit in the agricultural trade balance, reflecting weak productive and export capacities. Based on these findings, the study recommends modernizing the agricultural sector, enhancing investment, improving product quality, and developing marketing and export systems to support economic diversification.
