Abstract

This study explores the logistical challenges faced by the World Food Program (WFP) in regions afflicted by the Boko Haram insurgency, where high-risk conditions significantly complicate operations. Key issues include increased transportation costs due to the necessity of military escorts for securing food shipments and elevated holding and ordering expenses for essential items like sorghum. The safety of humanitarian workers and the integrity of food supplies are critical priorities in these areas. To address these complexities, the research proposes a specialized inventory model designed to optimize the distribution of sorghum, ultimately aiming to enhance the WFP's operational efficiency in conflict-affected regions.
